Even more and more youth ballers are experiencing knee pain. Besides just being physically unfit? There is a checklist that every athlete should go through?
1. do you have adequate ankle mobility?
2. do you have adequate range of motion in the quads & hip flexors?
3. are you able to perform a Overhead Deep Squat to parallel?
4. can you perform a "rear foot elevated split squat, with 50% of your body weight for 10 reps"?
5. do you know how to properly land?
6. are you rolling through the entire foot during take off?
7. are you performing a myofascial release routine before you play?

These are just a few of the reasons why basketball players are having patella pain & tearing ACL's at an epidemic rate?

God bless!

speed isn't nearly as important as acceleration

Part 1
Acceleration & Speed, what's the difference?
In all court sports, and most field sports, acceleration is much more of a game changer than speed is!
Acceleration is how fast you can sprint, coming from a dead start or a change of direction.
Pure speed is basically how fast can you run in a straight line?

Acceleration is mostly determined by two things!
The angle at which you want to change direction.
And two, how much force can you apply to the ground in that appropriate direction?

Next time we'll go into greater detail, and training methods to improve your acceleration!
